Cotton & Wire Correction

Cotton & Wire Correction information applies to the: CAL3K-AP , CAL3K-A

The sample is ignited by sending a current through the firing wire. This makes the wire glow, which in turn ignites the cotton thread, which in turn ignites the sample.

The cotton and wire correction compensates for the electrical firing wire energy and the energy of the burned cotton. The default setting is 0.08°C

The cotton and firing wire correction is always used.

The entry of the cotton correction is password protected.

It needs changing when different cotton or different firing voltage or wire is being used and the standard value is not sufficient

NOTE:

The cotton correction is very small when compared to the calorific values normally encountered. It is mathematical on OFFSET, which is constant.

However, if very low calorific determinations are attempted then the offset gains significance. In this scenario we suggest to use a larger sample mass!

The cotton and wire correction is measured in °C. It can be measured when the sample is omitted which results in a "Misfire" condition. The temperature rise is then displayed.
